The heart-wrenching events of the Hathras Gangrape case and last year’s Unnao rape case have inflicted series of concerning questions when it comes to rape laws in India. Through this article, the author tries to conduct a comparative analysis of the punishment of rape in India and other countries.
The main motive of this article is to inform people about the concept of FIR. It is an attempt to provide basic and detailed knowledge about what an FIR is under Section 154 of CrPC, how one can lodge an FIR and what are the remedies available to a common man in case of non-registration of the FIR by a police officer.
Women criminality rates have increased drastically since last few decades globally. This article tries to analyse some of the various factors which contribute and accelerate the criminality amongst women. It also tries to examine the nature of the crimes committed by women and how it is different from the traditional crimes committed by them. Lastly, this article also enlists certain measures that could be taken to potentially reduce the criminality rate amongst women in India.
The article discusses the details and application of Section 269 and Section 270 of IPC, 1860 Indian Penal Code.
